Navigating Networks: Learning in the 21st Century

The explosion of social Web technologies has ushered in a powerful new learning landscape that is at once filled with potential and fraught with pitfalls. While millions of our kids are exploring the uses of social networks to communicate and collaborate, very few of them are being taught how to leverage these connections for learning and to make sense of a much more complex and quickly evolving world of information. The keys to navigating this new world successfully lie in our own understanding of how online, social networks can not only connect us but support our personal learning pursuits. In this session, participants will examine the global shifts that the Web is creating, reflect on their own learning in the context of these changes, and begin to understand the implications for classrooms, curriculum and pedagogy.
